You think Kobe is done?

The actual Christmas day is almost over (exactly 3 hours to go as I start this entry) and I have decided to end my day with a basketball BANG!

Some hoops thoughts…

First of, since yesterday, I have been playing PS2 – NBA Live 2007. My fingers are hurting bad right now. Playing the Lakers the whole time with mainly Houston Rockets as my opponent. Where, the Rockets have a healthy Yao Ming and Tracy Mc Grady hooping and hopping. Very unlike in real life where the two are out of it as we speak. (More on this below…)

The highlight of my PlayingStation2 was when I created a 5-foot player dynamo, tagged it as center/power forward and supercharged its skills (shooting, intellect, dunking, defense, etc.) almost to perfection. The whole room got a whole lot of laughin when my player matched Yao Ming pound for pound. Or should I say, inch for inch. Try this, and enjoy as we did. By the way, I lazily named my player S.O. and inserted it to the Lakers.

Speaking of Lakers…

What’s up with Kobe calling Gilbert Arenas’ 60-point explosion over the Lakers, “lucky”? If Kobe goes for 60, he will definitely say he’s a legit 50, 60 point power scorer. If someone else does he calls ‘em “lucky”. Gilbert’s next game, he scored 54 over the Phoenix Suns. What is he now? “Even Luckier?”

Speaking of Yao Ming…

In Houston, I heard another eagle has landed. After Tracy Mc Grady went down with his traditional and yearly back injury, it’s was Yao Ming who’s injured. In their game against the Los Angeles Clippers, he fractured a bone under his knee and was estimated to be out for a month and a half.

Too bad for Yao, as the big guy is on an MVP-type level (27 points and 9 rebounds per) for the first time in his career. His doctors and trainer is hoping that rest would do him and them good. A surgery is not yet clearly suggested as of now. No T-Mac. No Yao. Could it be no playoffs for the Rockets?

By the way, the Rockets dropped the game against the Clips. Getting dunked-on by a 5-foot player in PS2, injured in a real-time game, losing the game in the process, it’s just not Yao Ming’s perfect holidays.

Speaking of holidays…

Could there be a better way to sneak-in a basketball game these holidays than the NBA yearly Miami Heat – Los Angeles Lakers Christmas Special? I say none. (Sorry PBA games, I am missing today’s games as it has no bearing atop the rankings.) Dwayne Wade vs Kobe Bryant (formerly Bryant versus O’Neal tussle) and Phil versus Pat, what more can you ask more? For more reasons, NBA.com breaks down twelve reasons why would you want to see the game (for us, delayed watching will do). Here’s the list.

Speaking of list…

Something new is cooking over at PBA.ph. Jason Webb (I like Webb more as a PBA commentator than as a player) is onboard the PBA site. He has his own PBA.ph space we he calls ‘PBA Webb Site’. He has this space which is short of a blog-like really as it goes as he puts it, “just a tiny space where I can impart with you my personal observations, feelings and revelations on the headlines and sub-plots in the PBA.”

His first entry, Jason does Top Ten. Here’s Jason Webb top ten rookies list.

By the way, Merry Christmas Hoopers!
