NBA FIT is the league’s global comprehensive health and wellness program that encourages physical activity and healthy living for children and families through various programs. As an official sponsor of NBA FIT Philippines 2011,
Energen supported a series of events which featured Spoelstra alongside local health and wellness experts and celebrities.
“We’re excited to work hand-in-hand with Coach Spoelstra and the NBA to demonstrate how Filipinos can become healthier by adopting an active lifestyle, eating and drinking nutritious food,” said Ronny Saputra, Marketing Manager, Energen.
During the NBA FIT Clinics held in schools and shopping malls, Energen conducted a skills challenge activity called Energen Sharp-Shooter, which not only helped participants hone their basketball skills but also tested their mental fitness.
In the challenge, teams navigated an obstacle-course quickly and answered questions about Energen correctly too. Winners took home prizes and gift packs from Energen.
Spoelstra also visited the Energen booth and signed an Energen Team Pilipinas jersey. Energen Team Pilipinas received a boost after participating in a basketball clinic conducted by Spoelstra and some of the Miami Heat coaching staff held in Manila. Spoelstra imparted his training regimen and coached the team on basketball fundamentals. Energen Team Pilipinas is currently competing in a qualifier for the FIBA-Asia Under-16 Championships for Junior Men in Malaysia.
“At Energen, we are committed to ensuring the well-being of our customers so aside from offering a nourishing product, it is also our priority to educate Filipinos about how they can better care for themselves and for their family,”
Saputra said.
Aside from supporting basketball programs that boost the skills of young athletes and bring them closer to their hoop dreams, Energen has partnered with the NBA to improve awareness on physical fitness and nutrition. Energen also sponsored the NBA 3-ON-3 Philippines Basketball Challenge which featured NBA All-Star and Legend Horace Grant.
