EVERYTHING BUT THE BALL

Spending just a little time in an ONLINE betting site or just a plain lotto or karera does not eat my precious time to have fun with my drinking buddies. We just want to have fun but I never remember winning a single centavo or a few million pesos. Read more

DENVER’S ANTHONY SNUBBED IN NBA ALL STAR SELECTION

February 2, 2007 by · Leave a Comment

Anthony wasn’t among the reserves – selected by NBA coaches – announced on Thursday for the February 18 showcase in Las Vegas.

He leads the league in scoring, but recently returned from a 15-game suspension meted out for his role in an ugly brawl in December.

He could still be appointed as an injury replacement by NBA commissioner David Stern, who handed down the suspension.

In addition to Anthony, Dallas forward Josh Howard and Utah center Mehmet Okur also were shut out and denied their first All-Star berths.

Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer – who suffered a broken bone in his leg over the weekend – was the lone first-time selection of the coaches in the West, which has no shortage of quality forwards.

The league-leading Dallas Mavericks had just one player chosen – superstar forward Dirk Nowitzki, who is making his sixth straight appearance.

The Phoenix Suns, who have the top offense in the NBA, had three selections – point guard and two-time Most Valuable Player Steve Nash, forward Shawn Marion and center Amare Stoudemire. FULL STORY…

Bryant was banished one game for striking San Antonio’s Manu Ginobili in the face during a game Sunday, a suspension that stunned the guard since it came on what he considered an accidental contact.

LeBron James, the superstar swingman of the Cleveland Cavaliers, received the second-most ever to lead all players in the final fan balloting for the 2007 NBA All-Star Game.

James, who earned MVP honors in last season’s National Basketball Association All-Star Game, ended Yao Ming’s two-year reign as top vote-getter.

His total of 2.516 million which was released Thursday was exceeded only by Yao’s 2.558 million in 2005.

Yao, the giant centre of the Houston Rockets, finished second with 2.451 million votes, the fourth-best total of all time.FULL STORY

IS IT SAN MIGUEL?

I would be hypocrite if I said I don’t drink San Miguel Beer but that doesn’t mean I don’t drink Ginebra San Miguel. I can even drink a one full bottle ( bilog ) when I was a little, little bit younger.

And if this two will mix it up in my stomach, it would surely be disastrous. Read more

What Beckham’s ‘Bend’ means for U.S. Soccer

January 16, 2007 by · Leave a Comment

For all his silky skills and chest-pounding bravado, former New England Revolution star Clint Dempsey was not on the guest list for Tom and Katie’s wedding.Somewhere in MLS league headquarters, there must be visions of Tom and Katie sitting field-side at Galaxy games, of Brad and Angelina’s baby in Galaxy green and gold. Suddenly, courtside seats at Los Angeles Laker basketball games would seem like consolation prizes.

But among the reasons given for Beckham’s surprising decision to leave the world’s most popular and historically successful club for one that didn’t even make the eight-team MLS playoffs last year, one is consistently overlooked.

In the summer of 2005, Beckham stood on the very field he will now call home and announced the creation of The David Beckham Academy in greater Los Angeles. If Beckham is to leave any lingering trace on the history of American soccer, it will almost certainly be here – not in his soccer academy, per se, but among America’s youth. FULL STORY…

WHAT’s THAT BUZZ?

There is ongoing rumor that FIBA will surely lift the suspension of the Philippines very soon, as Manny Pangilinan and Jinggoy Estrada shared a good laugh as shown in almost all the daily newspaper in circulation here in Manila.

“I have the blessings of all the boards of the Basketball Association of the Philippines except one, the man with three-letter-word surname, “ said Jinggoy, who definitely has slight edge on sense of humor than his father. Read more
